RRL Shirts & Overshirts

RRL, or Double RL, began in 1993 as Ralph Lauren's tribute to the American West, and its shirts are known for western styling and heritage workwear fabrics. Expect snap-button western shirts, chambray and oxford workshirts, denim shirts and printed camp shirts, often with traditional detailing and indigo dyeing. The focus on fabric and finish is why they cost more than standard shirts.

RRL shirts vary by cut, so check the style before sizing. The western fit is the trimmest, cut close through the body and sleeves, while workshirts and overshirts are roomier and made to layer. As with much of the brand, shirts can run a little large, so compare the measurements against a shirt you already own, and size down on the slimmer western styles if you want a closer fit.

RRL shirts are the heritage, workwear-focused end of Ralph Lauren, with western styling, snap fronts and heavier fabrics at higher prices. Polo Ralph Lauren shirts are more everyday, with oxford button-downs, sport shirts and the polo player logo at lower prices. Choose RRL for heritage and workshirt styles, and Polo for classic button-downs and casual shirts.

Wash RRL shirts inside out on a cool, gentle cycle and hang them to dry to protect the fabric and any prints. Indigo and chambray shirts can release dye, especially when new, so wash them separately for the first few washes and keep them away from light upholstery and pale leather. Iron on a suitable setting and follow the care label for anything wool-blend.

RRL shirts work with the brand's jeans and chinos for a workwear-inspired outfit, layered under knitwear or a jacket as the weather turns. Chambray and denim shirts suit jeans and boots, while a heavier overshirt can be worn open over a plain tee. Short-sleeve camp shirts pair well with chinos for warmer days.
