Pelegrims Skincare, Body & Haircare

Pelegrims was founded in 2021 by Alex Verier, a natural formulator who had previously been a director at Haeckels, and Jérôme Moisan, a former tech executive with a sommelier's training in wine. The idea was straightforward: French brands had used grape extracts in skincare for years, but nobody had done it with the English wine industry that has grown up over the past two decades. The name is the Old English word for pilgrims, taken from the Pilgrims' Way — the route walkers have followed to Canterbury for centuries, which passes directly above the vineyard.

From vineyard to formulation

The brand works with a single vineyard, Westwell Wines at Charing in Kent, which grows Pinot Meunier, Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and Ortega. After pressing, the skins, seeds and stems that would ordinarily be discarded are collected and driven to the Pelegrims laboratory in Folkestone, around twenty minutes away, where the extraction is done. Most skincare brands buy their active ingredients ready-made. Pelegrims makes its own from a harvest it can point to. Grape polyphenols and resveratrol give the range its antioxidant properties, alongside other locally sourced ingredients including Kent cherry, raspberry and pumpkin.

The range

Our selection covers body, hand and haircare alongside fragrance. The wild nettle shampoo and matching conditioner handle hair, while the hand cream, hand cleanser and body cleanser cover daily washing and moisturising. The zinc roll-on deodorant and firming lip balm are smaller everyday pieces, and the botanical sleep mist is made for spraying on bedding. Two eau de parfum, Wintreow and Persoctreow, take their names from Old English in keeping with the brand. Packaging is recyclable and made in Kent.
