Filson caps and hats

Headwear is the largest part of the range and it splits by weather. The Insulated Packer hat is the cold-weather option — a full brim that keeps rain off your collar as well as your face, which a cap does not. Waxed Tin Cloth caps shed showers and wear in the same way the jackets do, stiffening in cold and softening with use. Logger and trucker mesh caps are the summer end, vented at the back for working in heat. Ballard watch caps cover the knitted side for proper winter.

Filson wallets and belts

The Outfitter card wallet is the slim option — bridle-weight leather that darkens with handling rather than cracking, sized for cards and notes without the bulk of a billfold. Belts run from the Double Prong, which is the workwear buckle made to take a load, to the Togiak in a lighter weight for everyday. Leather is the part of the Filson range that improves most visibly with age, which is why these are worth buying once rather than replacing.

Choosing Filson accessories for British weather

The rule is the same as for the jackets: waxed cotton for wet, wool for cold, mesh and canvas for warm. A Tin Cloth cap will see off a shower but is not waterproof, so for a full day of rain a brimmed Packer hat or a hood does more. Wool watch caps insulate even when damp, which matters more here than in a dry cold. And leather wants an occasional conditioning rather than a soaking — wipe it down and let it dry away from heat.
